- Create your Excel file. This can be made from scratch in Excel or it can be the result of exporting borehole data to Excel from RockWorks.

! See the import scenarios to be sure you have the correct worksheets in your Excel file.
- Start up RockWorks and access the Borehole Manager program tab.
- Create a new project if necessary.
- Select the File | Import | Excel | Row Based command.
- You will be prompted whether you would like to create a backup version of your existing database - we generally recommend you answer Yes; click OK to confirm the automatic backup file name.
- The program will display a dialog box where you will define the name of the file to import.
- Import Filename: Click on the open-file button to the right of this prompt to browse for the Excel spreadsheet to be imported. This file does not need to be in the current project folder.
If RockWorks was able to find worksheets that it can recognize, it will load them into the Block Selection tab. The next step is to define these (click the Next arrow below).
