Adding Embellishments to 2D Profiles and Cross-Sections

Grafix | Embellish | Profile or Section

Use this program to read an existing RockWorks profile or cross-section diagram, saved as a RockPlot2D file (.Rw2D), and add any of the RockWorks standard "embellishments" to the diagram. Embellishments include faults, title blocks, logos, and more.

These options are also available as layers when you generate many of the 2D profiles and sections in RockWorks.

Menu Options

• Host Diagram
  • RockPlot2D File to be Embellished: Click here to browse for the existing RockPlot2D file (.Rw2D) to which the additional graphic layers are to be added.

• Faults
  Check this option to display the active faults, stored in the project database, where they intersect with the profile or section.
  Click on this tab to establish the fault settings. (More info)

• Other 2D Files
  Check this option to include existing RockPlot2D files as layers with your cross section or profile.
  Click on this tab to select the existing Rw2D files to be included. (More info)
• 
  
• Peripherals
  Check this option to include various peripheral annotations with your section or profile. Options include title blocks, scalebars, and more.
  Click on this tab to activate the items and establish their settings. (More info)

• Border
  Check this option to include a solid line border around the entire diagram.
  Click on this tab to specify the line style, thickness, and color.
• 
  
• Output Options
  • Save Output File: Check this to assign a name for the diagram in advance, rather than displaying it as Untitled.
    • Automatic: Choose this option to have RockWorks assign the name automatically. It will use the name of the current program plus a numeric suffix, plus the ".Rw2D" file name extension.
    • Manual: Choose this option to type in a name of your own for this file.
  • Display Output: Check this option to have the resulting diagram displayed in RockPlot2D once it is created.

Step-by-Step Summary

1. Select the Grafix | Embellish | Profile or Section menu option.
2. Establish the embellishment settings as described above.
3. Click the Continue button to proceed.

   The program will read the existing Rw2D file and append the requested layers. The new diagram will be displayed as requested.

4. Adjust any of the setting in the Options tab and click the Continue button again to regenerate the image.
5. View / save / manipulate / print / export the diagram in the RockPlot2D window.
