Estimated time: 1 minute.
Finally, let’s run a quick volume report for the lithology model you have already created. The computed totals will be displayed in a datasheet in the options window.
Before continuing, be sure you have completed the lesson Create a Lithology Solid Model and Diagram.
- At the main program window, choose the Lithology | Volumetrics menu option.
- Input Options
- Lithology Model: Click here to select the name of your model: Lithology.RwMod.
- Content: These will set up the report to summarize the material volume and percent.
- Nodes: Uncheck this.
- Volume: Check this.
- Mass: Uncheck this.
- Percent: Check this.
- Lithotypes to be included in Report: Choose All Lithotypes. All materials in the Lithology Types Table will be included in the report.
- Sort By: Choose Name
- Intervals: Choose Every Layer. This will include a row for every layer in the solid lithology model.
- Decimals: Set to 0.
- Output Options: Click this tab to define the format of the output report.
- RwDat: Choose this option. Uncheck the other output types.
- Click Continue to proceed.
RockWorks will create a data tab where it will display the total volume of each lithology type at every layer in the input solid model. It will also display percent of that type for that layer. If you scroll down to the bottom of the data listing, the overall totals will be displayed.
- To save this datasheet, click on the File | Save option at the top of the window, and type in the name: Lithology Volumes and click Save. The program will append the RwDat file name extension automatically. This is the type of file that you can open into the RockWorks datasheet.
This is the end of the tutorial for lithology data. The next section contains lessons for stratigraphic data.
