This step is used to tell RockWorks the coordinate system and units used in the import file for the borehole locations; if they are different from the project units, RockWorks will translate them to the data coordinates you've defined for your project.
- Click the Imported Data Coordinate System drop-down list to choose the Coordinate system in which the imported drillhole locations are recorded. For your reference, the current project coordinates are shown at the bottom of the window. This will be the coordinate system that should show as default.
If you do not know what the import coordinates represent, you should select the same units as your project coordinates, and they'll be imported with no changes. Later, should you need to relabel or reproject the data, you can do so.
- Horizontal Coordinate System Settings: Use these settings to detail your selected coordinate system.
- Local: The system origin should equal the project's system origin.
- Longitude/Latitude: no additional settings need to be made.
- State Plane: Choose the State Plane Zone. If your project is set up to State Plane, that zone will be used.
- UTM: Choose the UTM Datum and Zone. If you project is set up to UTM, that datum and zone will be used.
- Other: If the input coordinates represent a different system, choose this option. (More info)
