Log Header Introduction

Log headers are plotted at the top of a log and typically contain textual information (company name, date, etc.), column labels, company logos, etc. Some of the header text is static or unchanging, while some (such as a date) change from log to log.

Within the Log Designer work screen, the header panes are separate from the log body, and offers a different set of design tools.

You may use the scroll bars provided at the bottom and along the right side of the header to view portions of the header than you cannot currently see. You may also change the displayed size of the header work area by positioning your pointer on the boundary bar at the bottom of the header and dragging it up or down as appropriate.

You can design three distinct headers: a "Title Page" which can precede the first page of the log, "Header 1" which is typically printed at the top of the first page, and "Header 2" which typically displays on middle and end pages of the log. All are optional. Use the Visible Sections check-boxes to display the design panes for the three headers.

When you invoke the New command (File menu) to create a new log design, the program will display a blank design screen. You may then insert a log header item by selecting one of the header toolbar buttons and placing the item in the log header section. You may use the displayed ruler for horizontal placement reference.

! Items in the log header cannot be moved into the log body and vice-versa. However, header items can be copied into and from the log footer.
