Drawing Patterns

Whether you are creating a new pattern or editing an existing one, the drawing procedures are the same.

Use the Snap checkbox to be sure that shapes snap to the dots in the design grid.

Use the Select toolbar button to select items for moving, cutting, or copying.

Use the Cut, Copy, and Paste buttons at the top of the window to cut selected item(s), copy selected item(s), and paste selected item(s).

Use the Line Width setting to adjust the width of the lines making up non-filled shapes.

Background Image Expand this pane to display a small image in the background of the design pane to help with drawing. Use the Display Image checkbox to toggle the display of the image on and off.

Drawing Circles, Ovals, and Dots:
- Click the open-circle or filled-circle toolbar button.
- Position your cursor in the design pane and click with the left mouse button to start the circle/oval/dot.
- Hold the mouse button and drag to draw the circle/oval/dot shape.
- Release the mouse button to complete the shape.
Drawing Lines:
- Click the line toolbar button.
- Position your cursor in the design pane and click with the left mouse button to start the line.
- Hold the mouse button and drag to draw the line.
- Release the mouse button to complete the line.
Drawing Rectangles and Squares:
- Click the open-rectangle or filled-rectangle toolbar button.
- Position your cursor in the design pane and click with the left mouse button to start the rectangle/square.
- Hold the mouse button and drag to draw the rectangle/square shape.
- Release the mouse button to complete the shape.
Drawing Polygons:
- Click the open-polygon or filled-polygon toolbar button.
- Position your cursor in the design pane and click with the left mouse button to start the shape.
- Hold the mouse button and drag to draw the first vertex of the shape. Release the mouse button.
- Click the mouse button again and drag to draw the next vertex of the shape. Release the mouse button.
- Repeat this process to add vertices to the shape.
- Click the Select button when the shape is complete.
