Insert a check in the Striplog Depths check-box to display depth labels down the logs. When you click on the Depths items in the Visible Items pane or in the Layout Preview pane, you’ll see the following Depth Bar Options in the lower-right.
- Column Layout
- Left Margin: Determines the space between the depth column and the item to its left, as a percent of the output dimensions. The greater the value, the wider the space. Default = 0.1.
- Width: Establishes the width of the depth column, as a percent of the output dimensions. The greater the value, the wider the column. Default = 0.1
- Column title: Click here to enter text to be displayed above the depth column. If no title is desired, you can leave this field blank.
- Font: This establishes the size for the title as a percent of the study area dimensions. A smaller size setting creates smaller text characters. Also choose the column title color and angle.
- Vertical Offset: Determines how far above the column the title will be plotted. If you expect to apply vertical exaggeration of 5x or more to your log or section, you might consider a value of 0.
- Intervals: Make a selection of how the downhole label intervals are to be determined by clicking in the appropriate radio button.
- Automatic: The program will determine automatically an appropriate downhole labeling interval based on the total depth of the log.
- Manual: Choose this to type in the label interval yourself in the prompt. For example, if you want labels every 100 downhole units (such as feet), you would enter 100.
- Convert Depth Units: Check this box to convert the depth labels from the default output units (feet or meters) to another system. Note that the default label units will be the vertical units you've defined in the Project Dimensions.
For example, let's say your borehole data units are mixed, with Eastings and Northings in meters but your elevations and depth units in feet. Let's say, also, that during project setup you chose for the output models and diagrams to be in meters along all axes. But now your client wants the individual logs in your cross sections to show the observed measurements in the original (feet) units. No problem - Turn on the Convert Depth Units and insert a check into the To Feet.
- Include Elevations: Check this to include elevation labels in parentheses next to the depths. If the hole is not vertical, the true elevations will be represented.
- Minor Ticks Per Major Intervals: Enter here the number of minor tick marks to be displayed between the label intervals. For example, if you enter "5", the program will plot 5 smaller tick marks between the major (labeling) intervals. Entering "5" does NOT mean the minor ticks will plot at 5-foot intervals.
- Tick Mark Width: This setting defines how big the tick marks are. The default setting = 1.0.
- Font: Click on the button to choose font type, size (as a percent of the project output dimensions), color, and angle.
- Decimal Places: Choose either Automatic or Manual. If you choose Manual, use the box to the right to establish the number of decimal places for the depth (and elevation) labels.
