The Datebar Attributes window is used to define or to modify the location, layer, and appearance for diagram datebars. This window is displayed when you edit an existing datebar in or insert a new datebar into a diagram. Datebars display minimum and maximum dates, typically for diagrams such as hydrographs.
Appearance Options
- Axis
- Line Style: Click on the sample to select the style, thickness, and color for the datebar axis line.
- Title: Type into this prompt any text to be used as a title for the axis, such as "Months" or "Time".
- Orientation: Select Parallel for the axis title to be plotted parallel to the axis line. Choose Perpendicular for the axis title to plot perpendicular to the axis line.
- Size: Type in the size for the axis title, as a percent of the diagram extents.
- Color: Click on the color box to choose a color for the title text.
- Background: Here you can define whether the title text is to be against a transparent or opaque background. If you choose the latter, click on the color box to choose a background color.
- Date Labels: Be sure this is checked if you want labels plotted at intervals along the axis. (See Values, below, for the increments for the settings for label increments.)
- Font: Choose the font style to be used by selecting it from the drop-down listing. The default is the font that is selected under Preferences | Program Settings.
- Orientation: Select Parallel for the datebar labels to be plotted parallel to the axis line. Choose Perpendicular for the labels to plot perpendicular to the axis line.
- Background: Here you can define whether the labels are to plot against a transparent or opaque background. If you choose the latter, click on the color box to choose a background color.
- Position: Choose Left or Right to place the labels to the left or right of the axis.
- Size: Type in the size for the datebar labels, as a percent of the diagram extents.
- Color: Click on the color box to choose a color for the label text.
- Date Format: Click this box to choose how the dates are to be displayed.
- Tick Marks:
- Bar Style: These settings allow you to specify whether the ticks are to be plotted and, if so, on the same side as the labels, on the opposite side, or both.
- Tick Size: Set the size of the tick marks, as a percent of the diagram extents.
Values
- Start, End: These define the dates that are to be represented at the beginning and ending point of the datebar axis.
- Intervals:
- Labels: Select the date increment for the labels. For example, if you select "Week" for the date interval and "2" for the increment, RockPlot will display a label for every 2nd week (every other week).
- Tick Marks: Select the date increment for the tick marks. If you select "Week" for the date interval and "1" for the increment, RockPlot will display a tick mark for every week.
Location Options
- Layer: Use this setting to select the layer to which the datebar is to be associated. See Working with Layers for more information.
- Endpoints: These will default to the diagram locations where you drew the datebar. You can edit these as you like to fine-tune the placement.
- Start: These define the starting point for the datebar. They will correspond to the diagram units.
- End: These determine the ending point for the datebar, in your diagram units.
General Options
- Visible: Insert a check in this box for the datebar to be visible in the drawing or map. Remove the check-mark to hide the datebar.
