RockWorks | Borehole Manager | File | Export | Fractures
This program will export the XYZ coordinates at the downhole fracture midpoints for all enabled holes to a text file for subsequent use within other programs and/or incorporation into reports. Also included are bearing, inclination, radius, and aperture.
Menu Options
Step-by-Step Summary
- Spatial Filter: Insert a check in this box at the top of the program window to activate a data filter based on spatial coordinates. Click this button to enter the filter settings. Click the Return to Previous Menu button when you are done entering the filter settings. (More info)
- Output Options: You can select multiple options.
- RwDat (RockWorks): Check this option for the Fracture data to be exported to a RockWorks datasheet (.RwDat) format. (More info)
TIP: Use the exported data to generate rose diagrams and stereonets.
- CSV (Excel): Check this option for the Fracture data to be exported to a CSV file format for use in Excel. (More info)
- TXT (Notepad): Check this option for the Fracture data to be exported to a text (.txt) format. (More info)
- RTF (Word): Check this option for the Fracture data to be exported to an RTF file format for use in Word. (More info)
- SHP (ArcMap): Check this option for the Fracture data to be exported to a Shapefile format. Click on this tab to set up the Shapefile options.
- Output (Shape) File:: Click to the right to type in a name to assign the Shapefile to be created. The exporter will also create the accompanying .SHX and .DBF files.
Fracture data exports as point (PointZ) files only.
- Access the RockWorks Borehole Manager program tab.
- Be sure there is fracture data listed for one or more boreholes.
- Be sure the boreholes to be processed (if more than one) are shown as Enabled in the borehole listing.
- Select the File | Export | Fractures menu option.
- Enter the requested menu settings, described above.
- Click the Continue button to proceed.
The program will extract the requested data and create the requested output listing the borehole, depth, XYZ points for the fracture centers, bearing, inclination, radius, and aperture.
