To open a data file from LogPlot7 (.DAT file) that exists already on disk, you have a few options, listed here.
! Note that this process also applies to LogPlot2005 and LogPlot2003 DAT files.
- Open a project folder into the LogPlot Project Manager.
- Expand the Data Files heading, and the LP7 Data Files (.dat) sub-heading.
- Double-click on the name of the DAT file you wish to open.
- Click in an existing Data Editor window or (if none are open) create a new Data Editor window.
- In that Data Editor window, click on the File menu and select the Import a LogPlot7 Data File option.
- Select the LogPlot7 DAT file you wish to open (accessing other drives or directories as necessary) by clicking on the name to highlight it. These files have a ".dat" file name extension.
- Click on the Open button.
The program will read the file and update it to the new LogPlot8 data format.
- You will be prompted whether you want to save the updated file.
Click Yes if you want the program to save the file under the same name, with the new .LDAT8 file name extension in the same folder as the old file.
Click No if you do not want to save the file at this time. You can use the File | Save As menu option to save in a different folder.
