Quick-Compile Single or Multiple Logs
Set Scale Date Time Filter Confirm Log Design Header Footer Settings Other Compile Settings

You can use the LogPlot Project Manager to quick-compile single or multiple logs. The process involves selecting the log design to be used, selecting the data file(s) that contain the data to be displayed on the log(s), and choosing the Compile option from the right-click menu.

  1. Click on the open-folder button at the top of the file manager pane.
  2. Browse to the folder where the LogPlot files are stored, selecting the folder by clicking on it, and clicking OK.

  1. Use either the menus or the Project Manager to open the log design (.LDFX8 file) to be used as the design template for the logs.

  1. Expand the Project Manager's Data Files heading, as necessary.
  2. Use your mouse to click on the name of the first data file (LDAT8 file) you want to quick-compile.
  3. To select additional data files, hold down the <Shift> key (for sequentially-listed names) or the <Ctrl> key (to select names individually).
  4. Right-click in the Project Manager pane.
  5. Choose Compile Selected Data Files from the pop-up menu.

  1. The program will display a dialog box where you can confirm a number of log settings. Click on a portion of the image below for more information; these topics are also listed at the bottom of the page.

  2. When all of the settings are displayed to your satisfaction, click on the Process button at the bottom of the window to have the program compile the data in all open LDAT8 files into plottable logs.

That's it! The program will read the data contained in the data files and match the fields to the items that are declared in the log design you have selected. When all data items have been processed, the completed logs will be plotted in separate tabs or windows on the screen.

If the program encounters problems compiling your data, it will usually let you know and show you the location in the data file where it has encountered a problem.
