Database Import - Choose the Data Source

Step 1: Select the Data Source - this establishes the database connection.

1. Start the import by selecting the File | Import | Database option from the Datasheet program tab. The program will display the import window.
   
2. Click the Select Data Source button.
   
3. In the FireDAC Connection window, click the Driver ID button to view a drop-down list.
   
4. Select the name of the driver which (a) you have installed and (b) which corresponds to the type of database you're importing:
   MSAcc: Microsoft Access (.MDB)
   MSSQL: Microsoft SQL Server
   MySQL: MySQL
   ODBC: Generic Open Database Connectivity driver
   Ora: Oracle
   PG: PostgreSQL
   SQLite: SQLite
   
5. Database: Click this prompt, in the main part of the FireDAC Connection window, to browse for the database that contains the table to be imported.
   Wizard: You can use this button to browse for the stand alone database name (such as .MDB) or for the database server to connect to.
   
6. Test: You can click this button to test whether the connection has been made.
   
7. Click OK when you've completed the connection, and you'll be returned to the Import window.
   ! If you see an error message that the program cannot open the Data Source and Authentication Failed, recheck the above steps.
   

The next step is to choose the data in the selected database to be imported.
