RockWorks | ModOps | Grid Editor | File | New
The New option in the Grid Editor window is used to create a new "blank" grid file, with user-declared dimensions and node spacing, into which you can then enter discrete node values.
- To access the Grid Editor, select the ModOps | Grid | Edit menu option.
- Establish the default node Z-value for the new model by typing this in the Edit Nodes prompt along the left side of the editor window.
- Click on the New button or select the File | New menu option. The program will display the grid dimensions window.
- Enter the following information in the window's prompts. (The defaults will be pulled from the Project Dimensions.)
- X-Minimum, X-Maximum: Enter the X-coordinates to assign to the western-most grid nodes and the eastern-most grid nodes.
- X-Spacing: Type here the spacing, in the X-coordinate units entered above, for the nodes along the X-axis. For your reference, the number of nodes that will be created at the current spacing is displayed in the upper-right portion of the screen.
- Y-Minimum, Y-Maximum: Enter the Y-coordinates to assign to the southern-most grid nodes and the northern-most grid nodes.
- Y-Spacing: Enter the spacing, in the Y-coordinate units entered above, for the nodes along the Y-axis.
- Click OK to continue.
- The program will display a grid of blank nodes within the Grid Map portion of the editor, using the boundary and spacing coordinates you requested. All of the nodes will be assigned the selected Z-value.
- If you point with the mouse at any of the nodes, the program will display in the Editor's title bar the X- and Y-coordinate for the node and the default Z-value.
