- Start the import by selecting the File | Import | Database Import option from the Borehole Manager menu. The program will display the import wizard window.
- If you are selecting a new data source click the Select Import Source button. (If you've used this tool previously and have saved the datasource and map settings in a Template, jump directly to #7, below.)
- In the FireDAC Connection window use the Driver ID for the type of database to be imported.
- MSAcc: Microsoft Access
- MSSql: Mirosoft SQL Server
- MySQL: My SQL Server
- Ora: Oracle
- SQLite: SQLite
- The settings displayed in the bottom of the window will vary depending on the driver you selected.
- Database: For file-based databases you may only need to use the browse button to browse for the database to be imported. Establish the other settings as necessary (they will depend on the setup of the database).
- Server: For server-based databases, us this prompt to enter the name of the server to which you need to connect. Establish the other settings as necessary.
- Click OK to return to the Select the Import Source window.
- Save As Template: If you would like to save the connection information, click on the Save as Template button and assign a name to the XML file that will be created. This could be handy if you will be importing from this same source again and wish to load the connection into the menu.
! This is also handy if you plan to automate the import via RockWorks Command scripts, in which you can list the XML file name to make the data connection.
- At the bottom of the Select Data Source window, you'll see a Template File area.
- If you have done this import before and saved the data source and field mappings to a template file that you wish to use for this import, click the Open Template button. Browse for the name of the template "XML" file that you created, and click the Open button. This will populate all fields in these wizard screens with those you saved from that session.
- If you want to establish new import settings at this time, you can return to this screen later to save this session's information as a template.
- See Save the Data Mappings as an Import Template for more information.
- Click Next to proceed to the next step.
