Create new symbols

To create a new vector symbol, you need to start with a blank Design Template in order to draw the new symbol. You can do this in two ways:

1. Bring up a blank symbol into the Symbol Editor. This is done by selecting a blank symbol back within the Select Symbol window and clicking the Edit button:

   

   Or, within the Symbol Editor itself, use the Clear button to clear the Design Template of the currently displayed symbol. Note, however, that this Clear operation is not reversible!

2. Then, draw the new symbol.

   The center of each symbol block is the "+" in the center of the Design Template drawing area. Keep this in mind since it is at the symbol center that the symbol will be placed at a particular location in the log.

3. Insert lines as you need to complete your symbol. (See Drawing Symbols.)
   
4. Exit the Symbol Editor using the OK button (to save the new symbol) or using the Cancel button (to discard the new symbol).
