Open a Log

Open one LPT8 file using the menus

If you have saved a log plot on disk, as an .LPT8 file, it is possible to re-open it into a LogView window for viewing, exporting, and printing.

Because log scaling, continuous versus page-break, page headers and footers, margins, and page size and paper orientation (landscape versus portrait) are stored in the LPT8 file, these files should look the same when re-opened as they did when originally created.

! Because of this different file structure, LogPlot8 cannot open LPT files created in earlier versions of the program.

  1. Expand the Compiled Logs heading at the bottom of the Project Manager pane.

Logplot software: opening a log plot

  2. Locate the name of the LPT8 file you wish to open, and double-click on it.

LogPlot will open the graphic log in a new tab in the program window. The stick-up tab will be labeled with the file name.

  1. Expand the Compiled Logs heading at the bottom of the Project Manager pane as shown above.
  2. Single-click on the name of the first plot file to open.
  3. Hold down the Ctrl key to click on the names of other files not adjacent in the listing. Or hold down the Shift key to select adjacent files.
  4. Right-click on the selected files and select the Open Selected Files option from the pop-up menu.

LogPlot will open the graphic logs and display each in a new, stick-up tab in the program window, labeled with the file name.

  1. Access a LogView window, if necessary.
  2. Select the Open option from the LogView File menu.
  3. Select the log plot (LPT8) file that you wish to display on the screen by highlighting it and choosing the OK button.

The program will plot the first page of the log on the screen. You may use the scroll bars on the side of the View window to view hidden portions of this page, or to advance to subsequent pages of the log, if any. The current page, and total number of pages is displayed in the Reference Bar at the bottom of the View window.
