Combining Symbol Files

LogPlot permits you to import into the current vector symbol table one or more sequential symbol designs from a separate symbol file. This allows you to combine vector symbol tables.

1. Click on the File button on the right side of the Select Symbol window.
   
2. Select the Import Symbols option.
   
3. Enter the requested information:
   • Source: Click on the Open-File button to select the name of another LogPlot or RockWorks vector symbol table from which you wish to import some symbol designs. These files have extensions ".SYM".
   • Start: Type in the first symbol number of the contiguous block of symbols in the above-named table to be imported.
   • End: Type in the last symbol number of the block to be imported. If you only want to import one Symbol, the Start and End number may be the same.
   • Destination, Starting At: Choose the symbol number where the block is to be placed in the current vector symbol table.

4. Click OK.

   The program will import the designated block of symbols from the other file to the designated location in the current symbol file.

   ! Any existing symbols at those locations will be overwritten. The symbols in the other file will remain intact.

5. To save the changes to the current vector symbol table, click on the File | Save option.
   

Example

Let's say you have modified a vector symbol file for work with a particular set of projects, and have saved this library as "my_symbols.sym". Then you discover that you need to add some of the symbols contained in the RockWare factory symbol file, specifically symbols 127 - 132. Your current symbol table's first available space is number 20. Simply click on the Import button, enter "rw_sym.sym" as the input file, enter 127 and 132 for the Start and End prompts, and enter "20" for the Starting At number. The blank spaces starting at #20 will now be filled with the factory symbols #127 - #132.
