Step 5: Set up Lithology/Stratigraphy

Menu Options

If the LogPlot DAT or ENM file you selected as a template contains one or more "Lithology" columns, the name(s) will be displayed under the Lithology prompt in the Lithology/Stratigraphy import window.

  1. Click on the Configure window's Lithology/Stratigraphy tab.
  2. Here you need to define whether this data is to be listed in a RockWorks "Lithology" table or "Stratigraphy" table.

If you want your LogPlot lithology data to be imported into the RockWorks Lithology table, be sure the lithology column name is selected under the Lithology prompt.
! Lithology keywords will be imported into the RockWorks "keyword" field.
Lithology descriptions will be imported into the "Comment" field in the RockWorks Lithology table.  The Comment field is a "memo" field with no limit to content length.

If you prefer that the lithology data be imported into the RockWorks Stratigraphy table, select the lithology column nameunder the Stratigraphy prompt.
! Lithology keywords will be imported into the RockWorks "formation" field.
Lithology descriptions will be imported into the "Comment" field in the RockWorks Stratigraphy table. This field is not typically displayed in the Borehole Manager, but you can make it visible with the Tab Manager's Edit | Edit Fields option. The Comment field is a "memo" field with no limit to content length.

If you have multiple lithology listings in the LogPlot files, choose which are to be imported into which RockWorks tables.  Only one LogPlot lithology block may be selected for the RockWorks Lithology table and one for the RockWorks Stratigraphy table.

  1. Override the Description Terminating character ("^") only if that is not the character used in your LogPlot data files to end each lithologic description block.
  2. Click the Next button to proceed to the next step.
