The Annotations and Embellishments button in the Ternary Diagram window is used to establish some of the general appearance settings for the diagram.
- Subdivisions: Click this button to turn on/off the major and minor divider lines, and (if on) to select their line style, thickness, and color.
- Major Subdivisions: Check this box to display the major divider lines in the triangle plot.
- Line Styles: Click on the sample shown under the Major Subdivisions to choose the line style, thickness, and color for these lines.
- Minor Subdivisions: Check this box to display the minor divider lines.
- Line Styles: Click on the sample shown under the Minor Subdivisions to choose the line style, thickness, and color for these lines.
-
- Intervals: The ternary diagram intervals refer to the frequency (in percent) of the subdivisions. Choose from 10% (major) and 2% (minor) subdivisions (below, left) or 20% (major) and 5% (minor) subdivisions (below, right).
- Perimeter: Choose a line style, color, and thickness for the triangle's perimeter line. Choose the color for the interior of the diagram (default = white).
- Axis Labeling: Insert a check here to include labels along the perimeter of the triangle. Select the intervals at which the perimeter labels will be plotted: at 10% increments (fewer labels) or 20% (more labels).
- Tick-marks: Insert a check here to display tick-marks along the diagram border. Choose the increments (10% or 20%) and locations (inside the triangle or outside).
- Classification Overlays: Insert a check here to plot one of the available classification systems as color-filled or black and white polygons in the background, with your points, labels, and/or contours in the foreground.
- Folk: Click in this radio button to activate the Folk's (1954) siliclastic classification system. Choose black and white (unfilled) or color-filled polygons. Choose whether the polygons are to be labeled, as well as label type (abbreviated or long).
- Schlee: Click in this button to activate the Schlee's siliclastic classification system (1973 - after Shepard). Choose Color or Black-White, and whether polygons are to be labeled.
- Shepard: Click here to plot the Shepard's 1954 siliclastic classification system. Choose Color or Black-White, and whether polygons are to be labeled.
- USDA: Click here to plot the USDA soil classification system and, as above, choose the background colors and label status.
- Font Dimensions and Colors: Click this button to access diagram size and color settings.
- Primary Title: This is the main title at the top of the diagram. Choose the font size, as a percent of the project area (default = 5) and color.
- Secondary Title: This is the title below the primary title. Choose the font size (default = 4.5) and color.
- Vertices: These are the vertex titles. Choose the font size (default = 4) and color.
