Whether you are creating a new pattern or editing an existing one, the drawing procedures are the same.
Step-by-Step Summary
- Drawing Dots: Use your mouse to click on the nodes of the pattern editing grid to insert individual dots.
- Drawing Lines: Position the mouse at the node where the start of the line should be, depress the mouse button, and drag to the endpoint of the line. Release the mouse button and the line will be drawn in the editing window, and the current pattern as it repeats at the shown density will be displayed in the pattern box.
- Erasing Items: You may use the Undo button to erase entries in backward order sequentially, with the most recently added item erased first. Or, you may use the Clear button to clear the existing Unit Cell pattern.
- ! You cannot "undo" a cleared pattern block to retrieve earlier dots or lines. (For this reason, you may find the Undo command more forgiving.) But, you may exit the Pattern Editor without saving the changes you have made to the pattern file (use the Cancel button), and then re-enter the Editor. The previous version of the pattern will be loaded.
! All dots and line endpoints will be "snapped" to the nearest Unit Cell grid node.
! There is a limit to 50 line segments in a single pattern design.
