Creating a New Grid Model from Scratch

RockWorks | Utilities | Grid Editor | File | New

The New option in the Grid Editor window is used to create a new "blank" grid file, with user-declared dimensions and node spacing, into which you can then enter discrete node values.

Step-by-Step Summary

  1. To access the Grid Editor, first access the Utilities program tab so that you can see the Grid menu commands, and then select the Grid | Edit menu option.
  2. Establish the default node Z-value for the new model by typing this in the Edit Nodes prompt along the left side of the editor window.
  3. Click on the New button or select the File | New menu option. The program will display the grid dimensions window.
  4. Enter the following information in the window's prompts.  (The defaults will be pulled from the Output Dimensions.)
  5. Click OK to continue.
  6. The program will display a grid of blank nodes within the Grid Map portion of the editor, using the boundary and spacing coordinates you requested. All of the nodes will be assigned the selected Z-value.
  7. If you point with the mouse at any of the nodes, the program will display in the Editor's title bar the X- and Y-coordinate for the node and the default Z-value.
