Whether you are creating a new symbol or editing an existing one, the drawing procedures are the same.
- Drawing Lines: Position the mouse at the node where the start of the line should be, depress the mouse button, and drag to the endpoint of the line. Release the mouse button and the line will be drawn in the editing window, and the current symbol as it exists will be displayed in the symbol box.
- Erasing Items: You may use the Undo button to erase entries in backward order sequentially, with the most recently added item erased first. You may use the Clear button to clear the existing Design Template symbol.
- ! You cannot "undo" a cleared symbol block to retrieve earlier lines. (For this reason, you may find the Undo command more forgiving.) But, you may exit the Symbol Editor program without saving the changes you have made to the symbol design, and then re-enter the Editor. The previous version of the symbol will be loaded.
! All line endpoints will be "snapped" to the nearest Design Template grid node.
! There is a limit to 50 line segments in a single symbol design.
! The center of each symbol block is the "+" in the center of the Design Template work area. This is important - it is at that "+" point that the symbol will be placed at a particular location on a diagram. (The "+" will not be included in the symbol design.)
