RockWorks 15/16 File Converter - Introduction
The RockWorks15/16 File Converter program is a stand-along program you can use to update RockWorks15 and RockWorks16 projects to be compatible with RockWorks20xx versions.
- It converts RockWorks15 and RockWorks16 .MDB (Microsoft Access) databases to the newer .sqLite database format. *
- It batch-converts RockWorks15 data, model and graphic files (.ATD, .GRD, .MOD, .RK6, and/or .R3DXML files) to a RockWorks20xx format (.RwDat, .RwGrd, .RwMod, .Rw2D, .Rw3D). (RockWorks16 data, model, and graphic files are compatible as-is with RockWorks20xx.)
* In RockWorks20xx, the Open Project process can automatically open and update older .MDB project databases provided that the correct Microsoft drivers are installed on your computer. If they are not, then this Converter program can be used instead.
The File Converter program functions by displaying a window where you can define the RockWorks15 or RockWorks16 (input) and RockWorks20xx (output) project folders and select whether the database is to be converted. Once the RockWorks20xx database is present, you can then choose the specific data, model and graphic file(s) to be converted from RockWorks15. All of the original files are left as-is, in place in their original project folder. The conversion process saves updated copies in the new RockWorks20xx project folder.
- This program does not convert database, data, model, or graphic files from RockWorks14 and older versions.
- The database conversion, if requested, must be done before the data, model, and graphic file conversions. It will create the new project folder, so that folder cannot already exist.
- The data, model and graphic file conversions require that the RockWorks20xx project folder and database have been created, either using this File Converter or in the program itself.
- The data, model and graphic file conversions rely on a command script whose capacity is feature-level specific: You can convert 5 files at a time if you have RockWorks Basic or Standard, unlimited if you have RockWorks Advanced.
- See the specific instructions in the What's Next topic regarding using the converted files in RockWorks20xx.
To run the RockWorks 15/16 File Converter it is required that RockWorks20xx is installed and licensed on the computer where the conversion program is being run.
