The Flat Surface and Perimeter Skirt layers are offered in most RockWorks 3D map windows. They are used to define the following appearance settings for 3D surfaces.
- Flat Surface
Insert a check in this box to display the 3D surface as a plane. This is typically used to display a grid which doesn't represent elevations (such as geochemistry) in your 3D project space.
Leave this option unchecked if you are displaying an elevation grid and you want the 3D relief to be shown.
Click on this tab to define the elevation at which the flat surface is to be floated.
- Elevation: Enter the elevation at which the flat surface is to be floated.
-
- Perimeter Skirt
Insert a check in this box to include a perimeter skirt with the 3D surface.
Click on this tab to set up the skirt appearance.
- Dividers: Check this item to include vertical lines depicting grid cell spacing.
- Radius: Type in a radius for the divider tubes, as a percent of your project size.
- Color: Choose the divider color
- Automatic Base: Check this option to set the skirt base elevation equal to the lowest node value within the input grid model.
Leave this unchecked to enter a preferred base elevation for the skirt.
- Manual Elevation: If Automatic Base is NOT checked, type in the the base elevation for the skirt.
- Beveling: Check this option to adjust the lower perimeter of the skirt such that it is larger (or smaller) than the surface model.
Leave this unchecked for vertical skirt panels.
- Offset: If Beveling is turned on, enter the amount (in percent of the diagram size) to enlarge or diminish the the base of the model. Note how the offset may be set to a negative value to produce some interesting effects.
- Fill Side Panels: Check this option to fill the skirt with a designated color. Click the color box to select the fill color.
- Fill Base Panel: Check this option to fill the underside of the skirt with a solid color. Click the color box to choose the fill color.
- Edges: Click on this tab to set up the edge appearance.
- Top: Check this to plot lines along upper perimeter of skirt.
- Corners: Check this box to plot lines along corners of skirt.
- Base: Check this to plot lines along lower perimeter of skirt.
- Color: Color to be used when plotting skirt frame.
- Radius: Radius of tubes that are used when plotting frame elements. The radius is expressed as a percent of your project size. 0.5 is default.
