Import LogPlot Data Files - Select Templates

Step 3: Select the import template & keyword file.

1. Import Template: RockWorks can use either of the following as a template for the import.
   • Data Template (.ldat8, .dat): Choose this option to base the import on a LogPlot data file. Click the small button to the right to browse for the name of the .ldat8 (LogPlot8) or .dat (older LogPlot) file to be used.
   • Template File (*.xml): Choose this option to base the import on a LogPlot import template file that you have previously saved.

2. LogPlot Keyword File (*.lpkey, *.key): Click on the small button to browse for your LogPlot keyword file. The import tool will use it to generate your Lithology Type and/or Stratigraphy Type tables.
   
   For reference, the default keyword file for LogPlot8 is C:\Program Data\RockWare\LogPlot8\LogPlot8.lpkey.
   For LogPlot7, the default keyword file is My Documents\LogPlot 7\System\LogPlot.key.
   For LogPlot2005, the default keyword file is My Documents\LogPlot 2005\System\LP2005.key.
   If you are unsure which keyword file you've been using in LogPlot, you can launch that program and choose the Options | System Files or Options | Program Files menu item to view the current LogPlot libraries.
   
3. Click the Next button to continue.
