If you've created a new project in RockWorks or are in the midst of working on a project, you can bring in the Well Construction Types from a an external ASCII (text) file that is set up in a specific format. The imported material types will be appended to any existing entries in the current table.
Step-by-Step Summary
- Open your project's Well Construction Types Table. It may or may not yet contain any information.
- Select the File | Import from an ASCII File option.
- Browse for the folder where the ASCII file resides.
- Select the name of the file that contains the material type listing. The required format of this ASCII file is shown below.
Screen 10/3/16777215/8388736/1
CAP 10/1/16777215/0/1
CEMENT 9/2/8355711/16777215/1
CONCRETE PLUG 7/3/8355711/0/1
These tab-delimited columns list (1) the material name, (2) and the pattern index number/pattern density/background color/foreground color/line thickness.
The program will read the contents of the file and append it to the end of the current list.
- If there are any duplicate material names (it is not a case-sensitive match), you'll see a window that looks like this:
- Choose what to do:
Use Current Database Value: Click on this button to skip the imported version and keep the material's settings as they currently exist in the database.
Replace with Imported Name: Click this button to replace the current Borehole Database version of the material with the imported version.
Do this for all cases where the keyword already exists: Insert a check in this box if all duplicates are to be handled in this manner.
- Make your desired editing changes to the Table. (See Editing the Well Construction Type Table.)
- Click OK when the table is displayed to your satisfaction.
