Exporting ReportWorks Documents to a PNG Format

Use this ReportWorks program to save an existing .rwRpt document in a PNG format.

Menu Options

File Name: Click on the small open-file button to type in the name to assign the exported file.
Resolution (DPI): This setting defaults to 96 and will determine the resolution of the output graphic in dots or pixels per inch. As you increase the number of dots per inch, the disk size of the output file will increase. If you want to print the image at high resolution, you should increase the resolution to at least 150 pixels per inch. (We use 200 - 300 for publication quality graphics.)
Compression: PNG files can be created with varied compression; choose from Low, Medium or High. Generally, the higher the compression, the smaller the file size, but image quality can sometimes be degraded. Lower compression will result in slightly larger files, but will assure the best image quality.
Progressive: Insert a check in this box to enable drawing of the image on the screen as it is being loaded in the destination application.
Transparent: Insert a check here if you would like to choose a color in the image to be transparent, and select the color by clicking in the color box.

Step-by-Step Summary

If necessary, open the .rwRpt file you wish to export.
Select the Export command from the File menu. A pop-up menu will display the export options.
Select the PNG option.
Enter the requested information in the displayed program window, as described above.
Click OK when you are ready to continue.
The program will store on disk the current ReportWorks document in a PNG image at the resolution and compression you specified.
