The RockWorks | Utilities | Imagery | Digitize program offers a variety of digitizing and measurement options. Access these options within the digitizing screen's View | Options menu.
Menu Options
- Symbol Size: Symbols will be placed on the bitmap image as you digitize points, polygons, etc. Click here to establish the symbol size, declared as a percent of the diagram width. Default = 3.
- Area, Bearing, Distance (etc.) -> Polyline: For these different digitizing and measurement modes, you can expand the heading to establish how the digitized items will appear on the screen, and how the data is to be recorded in the data window.
- Color: Choose the color in which the digitized items will be displayed on the bitmap. Adjusting the color allows for light symbols/lines against a dark image or dark items against a light image.
- Thickness: Choose a line thickness from 1 to 10, with 1 being thin and 10 being very thick.
- Style: Click here to choose a style for the lines being digitized.
- Prefix: Click here to enter the text to be listed before the item in the data window. For example, if you are digitizing area, you might want to choose a prefix of "Area" to precede the measurement in the data window.
- Suffix: Click here to enter the text, if any, to be listed after the item in the data window. For example, if you are digitizing area, you might want to enter a suffix of "square meters" to follow the measurement in the data window.
- Show Vertices: This option, for polygon-digitizing, will display symbols at the polygon vertices. Activating this option can be helpful when digitizing multiple polygons that share common borders (i.e. making sure that the edges don't overlap). The symbol color is defined by the Points / Color option.
- Delimiter: Choose the character to be used to separate the data fields recorded in the data window. Use the ASCII character codes: 9 = Tab, 32 = space, 44 = comma.
- X,Y Decimals: Establish the number of decimal places to be used when recording the X and Y coordinates.
- Default Elevation: Enter an elevation (Z) value to be recorded with the X,Y coordinates in the data window. This is also editable during digitizing in the Elevation prompt on the main screen.
- Display "Effects" Menu: Insert a check here if you want to be able to adjust the appearance of the bitmap image in the program window. If activated, you'll have tools such as Emboss, Grayscale, Flip, Mirror, Negative, and Color settings (contrast, brightness, etc.) available on the main screen.
- Scroll Increments: Click to enter the jump increments for each click on the horizontal and vertical scroll bars.
- Scale Increments: Click to enter the scaling increments for each click on the Size settings box, in the main window. For example, a setting of "10" will offer 70%, 80%, 90%, 100%, 110% (etc.) zoom increments.
